Paul F. Hillis, 92, of Poplar Bluff, MO, formerly of Williamsville, MO, passed away, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his residence. He was born on June 12, 1927, to parents Robert and Iva (Strange) Hillis in Williamsville, Missouri. Paul was united in marriage on January 21, 1956, to the late Syble Wilmoth and to this union there were five children born. Paul served in World War II and he worked in Civil Service for 30 plus years, after retiring, he then managed the Girl Scout Camp which he enjoyed very much. Some of his favorite past times were fishing and gardening. Paul was a devoted family man and a perfect example of a father, He passed on a great legacy of family members who served the Lord. He has served in his church as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Deacon and on many church boards. He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years; daughter: Cheryl Smith; grandchildren: Meira Hillis and Joshua Hillis; sisters: Sylvia Hillis, Mildred Hillis, Lucille Hillis; brothers: George Hillis, Thornton Hillis, Sidney Hillis, John Hillis, Robert Hillis, and Chester Hillis. Paul is survived by his children: David Hillis and wife Sherry of Springfield, MO, Stephen Hillis and wife Edna of Jonesborough, TN, Timothy Hillis and wife Naphtali of Flagstaff, AZ, Beverly Smith and husband Michael of Poplar Bluff, MO; grandchildren: Michelle McMillan, Tiffany Mackey, Bethany Hillis, Steven Hillis, Jessica Hillis, Brittany Lundeen, Faith Bergner, Caleb Hillis, Tonya Worley and husband Jake, Tommy George and wife Ronnie, Keeleann Pickard, Matthew Smith, Nicole Burdin and Sarah Willard; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother: Ted Hillis of Austin, Texas; sister: Gerri Arvin of Dupo, Illinois. Visitation was held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Assembly of God Church in Williamsville. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 26, 2019, also at the Assembly of God Church. Pastor Helen Edwards ministered to the family. Tommy George, Jordan Bergner, Matthew Smith, Hayden George, Jessica Hillis, and Brittany Lundeen served as pallbearers. Burial was at Chapel Hill Cemetery near Williamsville with full military honors provided by the United States Coast Guard and American Legion Post 281 of Piedmont, Missouri.
