Clyde “DeWayne” Marler, 74 of Greenville, MO passed away at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born April 3, 1945 in Poplar Bluff, MO to parents Virgil and Lorene (Williams) Marler. DeWayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He attended a one room schoolhouse in Center Ridge before attending Greenville School. He married Sheila Bennett on April 19, 1965 and to this union two children were born. He worked as a logger for thirty or forty years. He then started selling tires and opened his own tire shop in Greenville, MO. DeWayne was an avid guitar player and enjoyed traveling and playing his guitar and singing. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his church and church family. He never met a stranger and loved to be around people. He enjoyed his animals as well as gardening and raising strawberries and blackberries. DeWayne was a good family man and truly enjoyed his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Dorothy Heath. DeWayne is survived by his wife of fifty-four years; children: Jimmy Marler and wife Kathy of Greenville, MO, Ginia Koch and husband Gary of Cadet, MO; grandchildren: Chasity “Tosha” Thebeau and husband Jeremy of Imperial, MO, Jimmy Marler Jr. and wife Lisa of McGregor, ND, Jessica Gregory and husband Laramy of Poplar Bluff, MO; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Leon Marler and wife Bea, Lavern Marler and wife Sharon, and Bill Marler and wife Lottie all of Greenville, MO; sisters: Betty Faye Goodman and Kathy Marler both of Cape Girardeau, MO. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Friday, June 14, 2019 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Greenville, MO. Funeral service followed Saturday, June 15, 2019 also at the Greenville chapel. Bro. Louie Robinson ministered to the family. Music was provided by Rob Elder and Virginia Crane. Jimmy Marler Jr., Daniel Marler, Steve Marler, Tim Marler, Tom Roth and Laramy Gregory served as pallbearers. Burial was at Center Ridge Cemetery, Greenville, MO.
