Obituary for Arlene Parker (Pennington)

Arlene Parker, 63, of Des Arc, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 27th, 2019, at her residence. Arlene was born December 19, 1955, at Edwards Air Force Base, Mojave, CA to Aurlin and Betty (Brewer) Pennington. On October 26,1974, Arlene was united in marriage to Dwight Parker and he preceded her in death on March 6th, 2008. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and daughter, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Arlene loved her vocation of homemaker and was a member of Victory Baptist Temple in Piedmont, MO. She served the Lord over forty years as a Sunday school teacher for the young girls' class and Junior church. She was an entertaining storyteller and was a bright spot at any gathering. Arlene enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Arlene is survived by her father, Aurlin Pennington of Vulcan, MO; and her children: Amy McCormick and husband Adam of Poplar Bluff, MO, Andrea Schick of Winterhaven, FL, Amanda Green and husband Matt of Stoke-On-Trent, UK, and Nathan Parker and wife Emily of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Zachary McCormick, Zoie McCormick, Zayden McCormick, Ethan Schick, Elijah Schick, Ella Schick, Parker Green and Hudson Green. She is also survived by one sister, Brenda Albert and husband Justin of Vulcan, MO. In addition to her husband, Arlene was preceded in death by her mother Betty (Brewer) Pennington.

Visitation was held Friday March 1, 2019 at Ruegg Funeral Home at 5:00 pm. Services followed at Victory Baptist Temple in Piedmont on Saturday March 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm Pastors Jeff and Elmo Parker ministered to the family. Jeff Parker, Aggie Parker, Carrie Street, Rachael Garber, Esther McCormack and the Victory Baptist congregation provided musical selections. Adam McCormack, Matt Green, Ryan Middleton, Ethan Schick, Zachary McCormick and James Schick served as pallbearers. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, MO.
