River Christian Hastings, 21, of Piedmont, MO passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his residence. He was born August 29, 1996 at Poplar Bluff, MO to parents Christopher Spencer and Pamela Hastings.
River was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He was a Christian, had many friends, and he was a volunteer fire fighter with Clearwater Fire Protection District for the past six years. He enjoyed watching wrestling with his grandfather, loved his trucks, enjoyed the gun range and hanging out with his friends. Achieved a certificate in welding at Missouri Welding Institute in Nevada, MO. River will be greatly missed by his family and friends. River is preceded in death by his grandmother: Jeanne Clair Hastings; grandfather: Mike Spencer; and cousin Steffen Hastings. He is survived by his mother: Pamela Hastings of Piedmont, MO; father: Christopher Spencer of Piedmont, MO; brother: Levi Worley of Baxter, MN; two sisters: Summer Hastings of Piedmont, MO; Katlynn Risner and husband Brad of Piedmont, MO; grandfather, James Hastings of Piedmont, MO; grandmother: Charliene Massa and husband Mike of Patterson, MO; uncle: Frank Hastings and wife Belinda of Atlanta, GA, Stephen Spencer and wife Cheyenne of Millersville, MO; three aunts: Alice Bowen of South Gate, CA, Christy Henson and husband Kevin of Cheyenne, WY, and Janie Hastings of Piedmont, MO; one niece: Delilah Risner; one nephew: Spencer Risner; cousins: Megan Knopf and husband Joshua, James Hastings, Brandi Henson, Angela Hastings, Makenzie Knopf, Madison Hastings, Silas Knopf, Charleigh Knopf and Calleigh London. Visitation was held at 5:00 pm Monday, June 25, 2018 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Funeral followed Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 1:00 pm also at the Piedmont chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders and Pastor Gary Rhodes ministered to the family. Dylan Jimmerson, Stephen Cates, Dillon Freeze, Dusty Connell, Dayton Lewis, Dwyte Robinson, Kim Woolard, James Wallace, Dustin Besher, and Johnnie Provance served as pallbearers. Honor guards were provided by the Clearwater Fire Protection District and Piedmont Fire Department. A last call was given to River by the Clearwater Fire Protection District at the committal service at Forest Chapel. Burial was at Forest Chapel, Piedmont, MO.
