Obituary for Wilburn E Wallace

Wilburn E. Wallace, 84, of Fredericktown, MO, formerly of Wayne County, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at his residence. He was born March 7, 1934 in Mill Spring, MO, son of Hollis “Jake” and Carrie (Smith) Wallace.
Wilburn married Eleanor “Dood” Goad, June 26, 1953 in St. Louis, MO. They spent sixty-four wonderful and blessed years together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was saved as a young man and of the Christian faith. Wilburn loved to sing and had crafted a few of his own guitars. He was an inspiration to the many lives he touched including his grandchildren, inspiring them to pursue music. Wilburn had worked as a residential carpenter for many years out of the union hall in St. Louis, MO. In retirement years, he worked eight years as a DJ for KPWB radio station in Piedmont, MO. He also sang with many singing groups including: Wallace Quartet, Gospel Tones, Lonesome Valley Four and Telegraph Gospelaires. Wilburn was a member of the Airstream Club and his love of travel and singing took him and Dood through many states, however, winters were well spent in Melbourne, FL.
Wilburn was preceded in death by both his parents; brothers: Eddie Wallace and Winfred Wallace.
He is survived by his wife: Eleanor “Dood” Wallace; daughter: Denise (Michael) Cork of Lenexa, KS; son: Kevin (Melody) Wallace of Mill Spring, MO; grandchildren: Monica (Thomas) McKinney, Megan (Dan) Smallwood, Christopher (Jennifer) Cork, Katie (Gaylan) Waterfallen, A.J. (Meredith) Wallace and Nicholas Wallace; great-grandchildren: Ada McKinney, Jaxton McKinney, Raelyn Cork, Blakely Cork, Daniel Smallwood IV, Isaac Smallwood and brother: Darrel (Barbara) Wallace of Bonne Terre, MO.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 5:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Services followed at the Piedmont chapel Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 2:00 pm. Pastor Michael Cork ministered to the family. Heartfelt Eulogies were provided by the family. Gaylan Waterfallen, Dan Smallwood, AJ Wallace, Nicholas Wallace, Roy Wallace and Rusty Wallace served as pallbearers. Burial was at Carson Hill Cemetery, Mill Spring, MO.
