Michael D. Kirby, 66, of Ellington, MO, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at his residence. He was born December 15, 1951 to parents Charles and Wilma (Woodland) Kirby.
Michael proudly served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran, earning a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. On March 15, 1997, he married Tressie Pruitt and they were of the Pentecostal faith. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He liked to travel, camp, fish, cut wood and enjoyed singing. Favorites were camping at Sam A Baker and going to Branson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Richard Kirby and sister: Janice Kirby.
Michael is survived by his wife of twenty-one years; five step-children; Roy (Noel) Vaughn of Truckersville, PA, Jason (Rhonda) Vaughn of Van Buren, MO, John (Tara) Vaughn of Puxico, MO, Brenda (Herbert) Davis of Wappapello, MO and Emma Vaughn. Nineteen step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, May 18, 2018, from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Graveside services followed at 3:00 pm, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, MO. Donnie Vaughn, Josh Counts, JR Counts, Josh Porch, Jessie Bai and Kenneth Hadley served as pallbearers.
