Dorothy “Irene” Shriver, 82, of Piedmont, MO, passed away, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born January 26, 1936 in Williamsville, MO to parents David Ray and Daisy Elizabeth (Chenault) Fann.
On February 4, 1953 Irene married the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Shriver and to this union they were blessed with six children. She loved her children and grandchildren and was very proud of them. She always wanted them with her and loved cooking for all of them, even if it wasn’t their favorite. She loved music, the river, fishing and to rock her red tab Levis. When she and Ken eloped to Pocahontas, Arkansas, her mother and father would not let the younger girls date. So, after that, when anything happened it was always Irene’s fault! Irene said, delivering her twins the same night her twin sisters graduated high school on May 17th, always made her proud and happy.
In addition to her parents and ex-husband, Irene was preceded in death by one son: Johnnie Wesley Shriver; one grandchild: David Wayne Shriver; one great-granddaughter; two brothers: Oscar and Ray Fann; four sisters: Carolyn Fann, Jessie Fann, Sharon Salor, and Edna Hastings.
She is survived by children: Stanley (Brenda) Shriver of Bloomfield, MO, Clarice Loraine Shriver, Twins - Lesa (Bud) Schuller, Melisa (Donnie) Provance and Cassa Carrico all of Piedmont, MO; brothers: Arthur Fann of CA, David Fann of AZ, Richard Fann of Ellsinore, MO, Frank Fann of Cedartown, GA; sisters: Ruth Harris of Poplar Bluff, MO, Virginia Estill of Cedartown, GA, twins - Judy and Joyce Pinion of Rockmart, GA, Margaret Pennington of Cedartown, GA, Violet DeSha of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Visitation was held 5:00 pm Friday, May 18, 2018 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Funeral services followed Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm also at the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Kevin Kinnard ministered to the family. Many heartfelt eulogies were given by the family. Johnnie Provance, David Provance, Michael Shriver, Jacob Carrico, Donald Fann, Jeff Carrico served as pallbearers. Burial was at Henson Cemetery near Ellsinore, MO.
