Barbara Shearrer (McAllister)
Barbara Ann Shearrer, 69 of Patterson, MO, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at St. Louis University Hospital. She was born August 27, 1948 at Patterson, MO, to parents William Walter and Gladys (McAllister) Bailey.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. On November 6, 1969, she married Harry Shearrer. They spent over fifty years building a life and family together. Besides spending time with her family, reading was a favorite past time along with taking care of her dogs. She enjoyed crocheting, planting flowers and playing cards, especially gin rummy. She did follow the rules when it was to her benefit, otherwise, she followed "the house rules, Barbara’s house rules.” According to Barbara, by following “house rules” she was not cheating. She was the motherly nurturing type, not only to her own family but to others that crossed her path as well. If she felt her children’s friends needed discipline, she disciplined them just as if they were her own. However, if she felt they needed love and nurturing, she was right there ready and willing to supply the need.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister, Karen Sue Bailey.
In addition to her husband, Harry, she is survived by one son: Wesley Shearrer and wife Denise of Dupo, Il; two daughters: Carol Shearrer of Patterson, MO and Brenna Hausmann and husband Brian of Dupo, Il; grandchildren: Shelby LaPointe, Corey Shearrer, Hailey Shearrer, Jimmy Pyle, Sarah Shearrer, Lacie Hausmann and Logan Hausmann; one great-grandchild: McKinley LaPointe; one brother: Tommy Lee Thorp of Fletcher, OK and one sister: Hattie Kathleen Miller of Camus, WA
