Obituary for Norma Toney (Chilton)

Norma Toney (Chilton)
Norma Toney, 82, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Mercy Jefferson, Festus, Missouri. She was born October 10, 1935 in Iron County, MO to parents Andrew and Pearl (Stevens) Chilton.
In December 1955 Norma met Donald P. Toney at the Starlight Inn, Piedmont, MO while attending a dance. Both immediately realized they were each other’s soul mates and secretly traveled to Holly Springs, Mississippi where they were married on January 21, 1956, just weeks after meeting. This was a surprise to family and friends, who felt the couple had a secret romance. Although, no longer a secret, the romance carried on for the next fifty years until Donald’s death. Norma was very supportive of Donald in the performance of his career. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Norma enjoyed quilting, reading, baking and her cats. She loved nature in general and sight-seeing.
In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Elizabeth Ann Toney Donnelly; one great-grandchild: Kessler; four brothers: Paul, Nelson, Bill and Donald Chilton; two sisters: Betty C Rottkamp and Ruth Higgins.
She is survived by one son: William Toney of Minneapolis, MN; two daughters: Debra Toney and companion Samuel DeAngelis of Pahrump, NV, Dianne Knauss and companion Eric Curtis of Boulder City NV; grandchildren: Samuel Toney, Melissa Toney, Joshua Donnelly, Brenna Dietrich, Jessica Donnelly, Caitlyn Jacob, Jody Thompson, Erica Farren, Richard Thompson, Amy Thompson, Wendy Thompson, Elise Thompson, Elizabeth DeAngelis, Brittany Knauss and Richard Knauss; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Cameron, Eileanoir, Emma, Ryan, Tommie, Leon, Ryanne, Rowen, MaKenna, Hannah, Andrew, Gabriel, Wyatt, Carson, Millie, Sara, Kole, Braden, Addyn, Kyler and Parker; brother: Ben Chilton of St. Louis, MO; sisters: Rose Mae Sutton of Festus, MO and Linda Lewis and husband Homer of Vulcan, MO.

Visitation was held Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 12:00 noon until funeral services began at 2:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Pastor Tadd Kruitoff ministered to the family. Son, Will Toney provided the eulogy. Homer Lewis, Dr. Mike Toney, Dr. Joe Toney, Thomas Toney, Cameron Toney and Hailey Toney served as pallbearers. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, MO.
