Obituary for Esther Simmons
Esther A. Simmons, 77, of Patterson, MO, passed away at her residence Tuesday, January 30, 2018. She was born March 9, 1940 to Rhuben L. and Freda J. (Matthews) Street.
Esther was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a hard worker and carried many different business certificates in business management. She had managed a corrugated manufacturing facility for Southland Containers for over twenty years in California. When moving back to Wayne County in retirement years she worked as a cook for a girl's home and at Sam A Baker Lodge because she loved to cook and interact with people. Not only was Esther an avid reader she enjoyed writing as well. She wrote a children’s book called, “Cea Bella” about a baby dragon which is yet to be published. She also enjoyed selling Princess House Crystal, Avon and Tupperware. Esther enjoyed shopping and loved studying Astrology. She past attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont, MO.
She is survived by her sister Carol Sue Presley and husband James of Vine Grove, KY, her children: Laura Esther Peach and husband Arlis of Silva, MO, Barbara J. Kamer and husband of Robert of Patterson, MO; Robert L Boker Jr. and wife Shelia of Piedmont, MO, and Roger L. Boker and Carol of Granite City, Il; companion John Alden Sr. step-sons, John W. Alden Jr. of Springfield, MO, Adam S Alden and wife Jacquline of Piedmont, MO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Boker and James E. Simmons.
Visitation was held Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 5:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Services followed at 12 Noon, Friday, February 2, 2018, also at the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Harry Chronister ministered to the family. Roger Boker, Michael Bixler, Leon Carter, Matthew Maples, Benjamin Maples, Trenton Kamer, Gerald Harrison III and Teodoro Rivas III served as pallbearers. Edward Boker, BJ Carter, Teodoro Rivas, Jr., Trenton Kamer Jr, Jordan Rivas, and Jase Rivas served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was at Linville-Barrett Cemetery near Coldwater.
