Obituary for William Asher

William Asher
William "Keith" Asher Jr., 60, of Columbus, KS, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017, at his residence. He was born September 15, 1956, to William “Bill” Asher, Sr., and Eva (Street) Asher in Granite City, Illinois. Keith grew up in Granite City, IL, and graduated high school there.

Keith honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1988. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Springfield, MO, for many years. He loved to spend time with his grandkids. He enjoyed his cat Stinker, Andy’s Strawannas, and going to Cracker Barrell on Wednesday to eat pot pie. In later years, he realized his dream of skydiving and living on a farm.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Asher, Sr., and one brother -in- law, Jimmy Cross.

In May of 1977, Keith married Dorothy Jeanene Lewis. To this union, two children were born. He is survived by one son, William Aaron Asher and his wife Constance of Baxter Springs, KS; one daughter, Anna Jeanene Bencsek and her husband Tony of Springfield, MO; his mother, Eva Asher of Piedmont, MO; his brother, Mike Asher and his companion Brook Hovis of Piedmont, MO; two sisters, Brenda “Lee” Asher of Harvel, IL, and Penny Cross of Piedmont, MO; six grandchildren, Hudson Carrington Asher, Beckett Lewis Asher, Skylar Jeanene Bencsek, Kayla Lynn Bencsek, Tori Dawn Bencsek, and Octavia Nykole Bencsek; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 1:00pm at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont. A Graveside service was held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Patterson Cemetery. Burial followed. Rev. Tadd Kruithoff ministered to the family.
